So, popular businesses make use of <a href="http://impactlogos.com.au">logos</a> that are easily recognizable, memorable, and lets you know what exactly a business is all about in just one glance. However, even the biggest businesses around have to change as time evolves, and so are their respective brands. Although rebranding is heavily frowned upon, these businesses by no means took the chance and made the switch, while some of them took the plunge over and over again.</p>
<p>Here are the best known brands that made drastic changes to their logos all throughout the history:</p>
<p><strong>1.	Samsung</strong></p>

<p>From left to right: the Samsung Byeolpyo noodles logo, which was used from late 1938 until replaced in 1958; Samsung Group logo, used from late 1969 until replaced in 1979; Samsung Group logo so-called “three stars”, used from 1980 until replaced in 1992; Samsung Electronics logo, used from late 1980 until replaced in 1992;  and finally, Samsung’s current logo which is used since 1993.</p>

<p><strong>2.	Mountain Dew</strong></p>

<p>Farther left is the first Mountain Dew logo which was made public in 1950, next is the two-sides of an early bottle with ‘Hillbilly’ design. The next one is the 2008 logo which was used for quite some time by the company. To the right is the latest logo of the company and is currently used by Mountain Dew.</p>

<p><strong>3.	MTV</strong></p>

By 2010, they made a logo change to this one on the right which is utilized by the same show up to the present.</p>

<p><strong>4.	Starbucks</strong></p>

<p>The old starbucks logo bears a wood cut type illustration of a mermaid-looking creature taken off the Greek mythology. From that time on, the logo has undergone several changes. Today, the present logo has a more defined and apt look for a popular cofee shop.</p>

<p><strong>5.	KFC</strong></p>

<p>Even KFC has undergone a full makeover. Colonel Sanders is now shown sporting an apron to make it look more amiable and inviting unlike the old logo used from late 1990’s to 2006.<strong> </strong></p>

<p>These are the logos that were used by Apple Inc. From 1976 up to the present. This is an evident example that illustrates how important logo is. The last logo to the right is now currently used by the world’s no.1 innovator in gadgets and technology.</p>

<p>The pioneer in camera technology is orginally known as ‘Kwanon.’ Later on, it was changed to ‘Canon’ as both sounded pretty much the same. The final logo was created in 1956 which shows the company’s name in a simple typeface which is used up to the present.</p>

<p>Even the popular software company that revolutionized the entire tech world had its fair share of logo changes and updates. They began with a disco-type looking emblem that eventually evolved to a simpler and streamlined one. The last logo at the bottom was given birth to in 1987 which is still adapted by the same company to date.</p>

<p><strong>9.	IBM</strong></p>

<p>IBM made drastic changes to their entire company brand and name eversince its inception in 1888. You can see from the logos above the timeline and the changes that were made. Obviously, the current logo is more appropriate and professional-looking.</p>

<p>Above are the logos used by automobile company Ford, from 1927 up to the present (from left to right). They experimented with various shapes from ellipse to circle, until finally they have decided to stick with the final logo (right side), which they dubbed as the ‘centennial blue oval,’ and is widely used up to now.</p>

<p>General Electric which was founded by Thomas Edison in 1892 has made a series of conservative logo changes from 1892 up to the present. The logos from above are the logos used by G.E. in chronological order from year 1900, 1934, 1969, 1986, 2003 and 2004 (used up as of this writing).</p>

<p>Finnish mobile phone manufacturer- Nokia, had sported the following logos above, from the year 1865, 1898, 1965, and the last two logos over the years. The logo revolution was evident in this case. Don’t you think?</p>

<p><strong>13.	Walmart</strong></p>

<p>Walmart used several logos all througout their business existence, but they have since then maintained a simple logo using basic colors and variation of the brand name ‘Walmart.’ The logo in brown was made in 1981, while the one in royal blue around 1992, and lastly, in 2008, they have made yet another change to the logo on the right which is still used up to now.</p>

<p>LG, prior to its now popular brand consists of two other companies that merged together – Goldstar, a radio creating plant, and Lucky, which is a cosmetics brand. The two brands eventually was merged as Lucky Goldstar in 1958, which was later on renamed to LG Electronics. Along with the brand name changes were the significant logo makeovers from Lucky in 1947, to Goldstar in 1958, and lastly, to LG in 1995 up to date.</p>

<p>This world-renowned cargo forwarding and courier services was added to this list as they too, have made a significant change on their logo from the old ‘Federal Express’ logo used wayback in 1973-1994, to the FedEx modern-looking logo launched in the year 1994 and used up to the present.</p>

<p><strong>16.	 Shell</strong></p>

<p>Shell, one of the main oil cartels in the world has its own share of logo changes from its beginnings in 1900 up to the present. The logos above are showing the company’s official emblems from 1955, 1961, 1971, 1995, and up to the present (images from left to right).</p>

<p><strong>17.	BMW</strong></p>

<p>Bayerische Motoren Werke AG or popularly known as BMW for brevity,  undergone several logo modifications from 1923 up to now. Notice from the above image samples, BMW’s popular logo which experienced some makeover to make it appear more streamlined (BMW logo to the right).</p>

<p><strong>18.	 Nike</strong></p>

<p>Way back in 1971, a well-known designer crafted a logo for Nike (first one to the left) for just $35. Eventually, as the business became profitable, changes to the logo has likewise been implemented. A very few modifications to the old emblem were made which later on yielded to a simple ‘check’ mark, which to the time of this writing remains to be the official logo of the company.</p>

<p><strong>19.	Pepsi</strong></p>

<p>Caleb Bradham founded the world’s famous soda brand Pepsi in 1890. From then, Pepsi adopted an official logo in the year 1940. After that several changes have been implemented on the top softdrinks logo design. Major logo redesign occured sometime in 1950, 1962, 1973, 1991, 1998, 2003, and 14 years later, a new Pepsi Cola logo was yet again given birth to(third image to the right).</p>

<p>The Universal Parcel Service, Inc. also known as UPS began using a business logo back in the year 1916 when they were originally known as the American Messenger Company. Several modifications have been seen with UPS together with their rebranding. Finally, they decided on sticking with the shield-looking logo that embodies the kind of service they wanted to project.</p>

<p>Target, a famous American retail company made various alterations on their logo since the brand emerged in 1902. Seeing the new logo (image on the right), we can all agree that the new look is much better compared to the old logos (images on the left).</p>
<p>Several businesses neglect to entirely understand that a logo is an emblem of that bond between the brand and its customers. This is the rationale why customers trust buying goods or services from a particular brand because they know exactly what they are getting. This is exactly why the loyal customers, especially the ones who patronizes the brand on a regular basis, are most likely the ones to be most annoyed and disappointed when their favorite brands decide to change their <a href="http://www.impactlogos.com.au/logo_design.html">logos</a>.</p>
<p>As rebranding poses a great impact on a particular business, it is essential to undergo with the entire process with great caution and care, having in mind your customer’s sentiments and preferences. Whether or not it’s simple or subtle, or a total makeover of the business and its goals, a change in logo resulting to rebranding can be well worth it if you know exactly how to do it.</p>

<p>The core definition and purpose of logo is to identify. By way of using images, emblems, marks, and or symbols, a logo can identify a company, service, or product in the most straightforward manner. To put it succintly, your logo should connect with the brand it represents.</p>
<p>As you can see from these samples, these logos are in no way reflective of the businesses that they represent, hence, no brand recognition or brand awareness can be achieved out of it. A logo to be effective should be synonymous and reflective of the brand it is promoting, otherwise, it’s a <span style="text-decoration: underline;">major FAIL</span>, and defeats its purpose.</p>

<p>Say no to logo designers with outputs set in raster images. Quality logo designs should come out as quality pictures; this is essential in reproduction of your logo. Having logo designs in vector form makes it possible to adapt into other media platforms. Also, resizing and editing your logo will be much easier. You would not want to have a pixelated logo, right? Unless it’s a style to have the images on the logo design pixelated, opt for vector images instead. <p>Have you ever considered making your own logo design, just to save money? Let me guess. You just downloaded an image that relates to the purpose or objective of your product or service, add some text or edited and put effects in Photoshop, and ta-da! Instant logo design! If you are one of those who did this, then delete that crap you just did. No matter how beautiful or impressive it might be, it’s still just a rip-off from some image hosting site, and there goes your originality rating. Whether for t-shirt projects, posters, letter heads, newspapers, other forms of print ads, and many more; a logo design must keep its striking characteristics. While the logo design’s color must be taken into consideration, it is an imperative that the logo itself can readily adapt itself to a change of hue.</p>

<p>The app was produced by a cutting edge team of gaming developers and has since been applied to over 10 cars.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you&#8217;re just starting in business and you just finished creating your <a href="http://www.impactlogos.com.au">logo design</a>, you&#8217;d probably be wondering about the next steps to take with your new business logo.  There are many, actually, and all of them require you to do one thing: expose your logo to the maximum.</p>
<p>What good will your new logo design be if you keep it under lock and key?  Whether your logo is fantastic or not is a debatable issue and is simply beside the point.  The whole point is to put out your logo the soonest that you can, to make it as visible to the public as possible, and expose it as frequently as you can.  Why?</p>
<p>First of all, repetitive exposure aids in recognition and recall.  Two key words are essential here: repetition and exposure.  The more frequently your audience sees your business logo, the more ingrained the image will be in people&#8217;s memory.  The repetitive exposure, whether people actively pay attention to the logo or not, engraves the image deep into their subconscious.  The same phenomenon is at work with that stranger you frequently bump into (but not talk to).  The next time you seem her or him somewhere else, you should be able to recognize the person.  You would even probably say hi or make small talk.</p>
<p>With your company logo, the goal you&#8217;re after is instant recognition.  That is, people will instantly recognize and remember your company whenever they see your company logo.</p>
<p>So, paste your logo all over town and wherever you can.  Make sure it appears on television.  Let it be seen by motorists and pedestrians on your company-sponsored billboards and giant signage.  Print it on your giveaway items.  Print it on customized shirts or on company uniform.  Your budget&#8217;s your limit.  On second thought, there are millions of creative ways in which you can expose your logo without spending much.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t forget your office stationery, too.  Make sure your business logo is on every business card, letterhead, invoice, job order, etc. that you use for transactions.  This way, you are not only providing an air of officiality to those transactions but also exhibiting your company symbol.</p>
<p>Creating a fantastic logo design for your business is just a part of the bigger story.  It&#8217;s an important part.  Another important part is the maximum exposure of your logo to your public.  These two are very crucial to establishing your business identity, creating good will among your target audience, and promoting your company name or brand.</p>

Every detail incorporated in your company symbol is linked to the brand name and the company. After all, it is the company&#8217;s representation and signature.</p>
<p>The colors, the shapes, and typefaces used in the logo design should reflect what the business is all about. That is why when choosing a font type, one must not decide too hastily. In making a business logo, so many things should be taken into consideration&#8212;even the smallest of details, and that includes the selection of the font type.</p>
<p>One of the important parts of a logo is the text. While not all corporate symbols have text, almost all corporate emblems bear some form of text, or a few alphabetic characters.  The message will be clearly conveyed and understood if the content that comes along with the logo is readable. The size, style, and color of the font are valuable to the logo&#8217;s success.</p>
<p>The style of the font will reflect the business&#8217; professionalism and serious outlook with regards to rendering service to target consumers. You do not expect a health care company to use comical or fancy fonts in its logo. Doing so will result in the company&#8217;s being perceived as frivolous and not all too serious about providing quality health care service.</p>
<p>This latter situation will result in a confusion on the part of the consumer. There won&#8217;t be any consistency between the service or product that the company is trying to sell and the font that your company is using. There should be uniformity when it comes to the main idea or the theme of the logo. Inconsistency sends mixed signals to the consumer, thus giving a notion that your business lacks organization and systematicity.</p>
<p>The style of the font also has an effect on the viewer. Round fonts usually create a relaxing and calming effect on the reader; as a result, the content and the entire logo will be easily remembered by viewers. On the other hand, fonts that have sharp, pointy edges produce a serious tone, which is quite suitable for companies who mean serious business when it comes to service.  </p>
<p>The font should be clear and understandable. There are fonts where in the letters are reversed to make the logo more attractive. But, this design does not always produce positive results. If the text is lengthy, reading the letters in reverse can be exhausting to the reader.  As a rule of thumb, choose a typeface that is clear and easy to read.</p>
<p>The size and color of the font also matter. The bigger the size of the font, the more it is greatly emphasized and readable. But make sure that the size does not overwhelm the sight. The color should be attractive to the eyes. This will be helpful in making your business logo recognizable to the public.</p>
<p>The font face of your company logo is as important as the overall design.  Make sure that you spend enough time to choose the most effective and the most appropriate one for you company&#8217;s logo design.</p>

Yet, a simple logo on a shirt is not enough; there should be other factors that will make onlookers&#8217; eyes look straight into the shirt.</p>
<p>One way to achieve that is to make sure that the colors of the shirt and the colors of the logo design should blend well. The color of the shirt may overshadow the colors of the logo, thus making the image unrecognizable. It is best to use light-colored shirts so that the colors of the t-shirt design can stand out.</p>
<p>Another way to make effective t-shirt ads is by using the same, or at least similar, fonts and colors of both the logo and brand.  This will not just make your shirt design consistent and coherent but also make your company shirts, as well as your logo, memorable.</p>
<p>Be careful with the shirt design.  The over all appearance of the shirt will also reflect the over all image of the business.  The placement of graphic elements, as well as the choice of color and shirt style, will bear on the company image.  The placement and size of the logo are very important. The logo should be placed where people can see it easily. It is best to put the logo at the center or in front because that position can easily catch attention. The size should be large enough for the logo to be seen and understood.</p>
<p>In contrast, if your company shirt&#8217;s design is disorganized, the viewer will instantly associate it with your company.  And, that&#8217;s not exactly a healthy thing to happen.  Worse, a disorganized company is often perceived as an incompetent and unprofessional company.  So, exercise great care when using your business logo on company shirts.</p>
<p>Yet another way to effectively use your company shirt to promote your business is to string all the shirt elements together in a coherent theme or motif.  The theme must be one that can accommodate your company logo, or at least one that will make the latter stand out and be emphasized.  Giving out freebie shirts at corporate-sponsored events can be a great opportunity to experiment with different themes and motifs.</p>
<p>Many companies today use shirt designs to further promote company and brand recognition.  Because shirts can be worn and brought anywhere, you can just imagine the long mileage and the amount of exposure that your company can get if you emblazon each shirt with your company&#8217;s logo design.</p>

Since your business logo should be about your company, it would be better to start looking at what your company currently has.  Often, you will discover insights if you start from within.</p>
<p>There might be colors that associate with the origin and history of your company. For example, some companies owned by Spanish people usually have red on their logo design. It symbolizes their nationality and patriotism. You could also use colors that represent your advocacy. For instance, companies that emphasize environmental advocacy often use green dominantly.</p>
<p>You could also develop your logo out of the basic shapes. But, of course, it still has to be significant to your company. Arrows could symbolize the direction which the company probably gives its clients. Religious organizations use the cross shape that symbolizes their Christian faith. Triangles could be used by mountaineering companies to symbolize mountains or by housing organizations to represent the houses that they provide their clients.</p>
<p>Other elements which you can play with to get ideas for your logo are icons. You could have a bread for bakeshops, books for a bookshop, dress for a tailoring parlor, or mirror for a salon. You could also use a logo that may not obviously tell what you are as a company but still has relevance.</p>
<p>There are also places where you can hunt for ideas for your logo.  In the library, for example, there are books that feature logos that made history. The same information can also be accessed easily on the Internet. Together with the logo gallery perhaps is an explanation as to how this or that logo became an icon in the graphics design industry. Study the elements that made it effective. But never ever imitate any of them. A logo should be original.  If you do copy it, you are telling people that your company is as good as a second rate copycat. You would not want to do that.</p>
<p>Logos should equate with your company. So, as a final suggestion, you can try to find ideas and inspiration for your company emblem from the very people working for your company.  Your employees, from top to bottom, are the ones who know the company more. They would know how the company can best be represented and rolled into one unique, powerful, and effective logo design.</p>
